Art Gala Kick-Off Meeting Tuesday, September 12th @ 7p.m.

The Art Gala is the second largest fundraiser sponsored by the UHS PTO and it is only two months away!  We need your help to make this event a success! Join us for a fun evening out at our kick-off meeting in the home of Carol Apicella, 1849 Huntsman Lane, West Chester, PA 19382.  Socialize with UHS parents and find out how you can help. No art background or experience is needed!

Class Photos

Senior portraits are being taken Tuesday, September 12th, through Friday, September 15th. Photographers are available each day between 3pm and 8pm in the Cafeteria LGI.  

Undergraduate photographs will be taken on Wednesday, September 20th. Your student(s) should have brought home an order form.

Back to School Night and PTO Raffle - September 14th 

Back to School Night will be held on Thursday, September 14th and NOT on the 15th as originally listed on the PTO calendar.  Please stop by the UHS PTO table to learn more about the three, main, PTO-sponsored events that will be taking place throughout the shool year - Art Gala, Used Book Sale and After Prom - and how you can help.  Volunteers who sign up for one or more of these events at Back to School Night will receive a chance to win a UHS Swag Bag filled with spirit wear items and a certificate for a Free SAT/ACT Practice Test offered in September or Janauary!  We look forward to seeing you at Back to School Night.

 
 

Hardin-Jefferson/UHS Volunteer Organizational Meeting-September 20th

 

How can you help in our efforts to support our extended family in Sour Lake, TX? On the evening of  September 20th from 6:00-7:00 pm, we will hold an organizational meeting to discuss fundraising ideas/plans for the current school year. If you would like to attend or just learn more about our efforts for the Hardin-Jefferson SD, please plan to meet in the UHS LGI.

New SAT and ACT Practice Tests, September 23rd @ 8 a.m.

On Saturday, September 23rd, SAT and ACT practice tests without the essay option will be offered at Unionville High School. These tests are available to all students wishing to familiarize themselves with standardized exams. Cost is $15/student which is payable through PayPal. Click here to register online by Wednesday, September 20th .  Check-in time on the 23rd begins at 7:30 a.m. and the exams will start promptly at 8 a.m. For more information regarding these practice tests click here

UHS Marching Band Fall Fundraiser – Mum Sales

From now until September 20th the UHS Marching Band will be taking pre-orders for beautiful mums.  These flowers are being sourced through a local nursery and potted just a few days prior to you picking them up at UHS on October 4th.  Cost is $8/pot payable through PayPal. Unionville Elementary Fall Festival

The Unionville Elementary PTO will be hosting a fall festival on Saturday, September 23rd.  Click here to learn all the fun details.

Flu shots will be given at UHS on October 5th.  Click here for more details.

Unionville Sports Council Golf Outing and Raffle

The Unionville Sports Council is hosting a golf outing and raffle at the Kennett Country Club on October 16th. Proceeds from this event will be used to support physical activity throughout our school district and community.

Unionville Community Bike Drive

Gently used children's and adult bikes and accessories are once again being collected within our community. Last year over 150 bikes were collected, cleaned, and delivered to kids and families in our district and the surrounding area!  The clean-up day is scheduled for Saturday, Oct 21st, and would be a great opportunity to bring out the family and/or scout troop and pitch in to help clean and restore the equipment that gets donated. Raffle Benefitting UHS Boys' Lacrosse

This eNews communication is intended as a supplement to provide families with important information related to their school or district. Breaking eNews will only be published when changes occur to previously issued communications or urgent information needs to be distributed.  Please read this document carefully for this information may impact your family.

Important 2017/2018 PTO Directory Information

Please note that ordering a PTO directory will not automatically include your family in the directory.  The communication below was originally distributed by the district office on August 29th and includes information related to publishing your family's information in this year's directory.  We believe some of our families might have missed this information and we want to make sure everyone has the opportunity to be included in the 2017/2018 directory.

Districtict Communication:

The Annual Directory is a service (and a UCF PTO tradition) we are pleased to offer that helps foster connections between families.
This year’s directory will be bigger and better than ever.  To increase it’s usefulness (and maybe save a few trees) we will be providing a PDF version of the directory in addition to the printed version. 

  • The PDF version is free and will be available in PowerSchool in the Parent Portal
  • Printed directories will still be available as in the past for a nominal fee of $8.00

Senior Portrait Update Class of 2018

The information related to the Lifetouch Senior Portraits has been updated.  Senior portraits will be taken on the following dates:

September 12, 13, 14, and 15, 2017

Photographers will be available from 3pm to 8pm in the Cafeteria LGI.  If your senior has not had their portrait taken yet, they will be scheduled for an appointment on one of the above dates.  An appointment postcard will be mailed to your home.  This is also a chance to have portraits re-taken.  If this is an initial sitting, a $5.00 fee will be charged.  This portrait allows students to be pictured in the yearbook with their class and also is used for a student photo ID.  Students are not obligated to purchase photos, but may do so after viewing proofs on line.

From now until September 20th the UHS Marching Band will be taking pre-orders for beautiful mums.  These flowers are being sourced through a local nursery, will be potted just a few days prior to you picking them up at UHS on October 4th, arrive fresh in an 8 inch pot, have an 18 inch flower head, be hearty and ready to plant if you choose, have a 5 to 6 week bloom time, and add color to your garden for years to come if properly planted and cared for.  Cost is $8/pot payable through PayPal. Letter from the Co-Presidents

Dear UHS Families,

We hope you are enjoying these final days of summer vacation. As the 2017-18 school year quickly approaches, we wanted to provide an update on the new eNews communication system.  As luck would have it, we have already discovered some issues with the system.  A few families have reported difficulty opening electronic documents.  We are currently investigating the problem and hope to have it fixed shortly.  For now, we want to be sure everyone has this year's PTO Membership and Directory Form (due September 8th), the current list of PTO Committee Chairs,  and an updated PTO school calendar.  Each of these documents is attached as both a link and an attachment to this eNews document. 

Please note that although you may have received these documents previously as hard copies in the mail or electronically via the links, the original PTO calendar contained an incorrect date for Back To School Night.  This event will be held on Thursday, September 14th and NOT on the 15th as originally listed on the calendar. We apologize for these issues and thank you for your patience as we continue to make you and your family our priority.

PTO Welcome Letter

Dear UHS Families,

We hope you are enjoying your summer. It's hard to believe that the 2017-18 school year starts in a few weeks!  This is the inaugural edition of our E-News using the School District's new Swift K12 messaging system. You will be receiving more information about this new system in the upcoming weeks.  The PTO will be sending out E-News generally on a bi-weekly basis, with more frequent editions if necessary.  The new messaging system will help you manage these emails.

We need your help throughout the year in order to make our events successful.  We can't do it without you! Please sign up by returning the attached Membership and Directory Form (click here). The due date for the Directory is September 8th. Attached is a list of PTO Committee Chairs for the 2017-18 school year (click here). There will be times when you will be asked to sign up for an event with Sign Up Genius, such as for our Welcome Back Teacher Luncheon described below. For a 2017-18 PTO calendar, click here.

Valor Bowl
Please come out to support our selected senior football players at this year's Believe & Achieve Valor Bowl to be held on Thursday June 1st, 2017 at West Chester University. The Valor Bowl has raised over $450,000 for Special Olympics.   This year's game promises to be another exciting and memorable evening. Come out and show our school's support for a great cause…the Special Olympics. UHS participants will be Jesse Gill, Zach Nance, Bryce McManus, Trevor Gardiner, James Watson, Matt Dauphin, Mike Cresta and Robby Maxwell.
 
Senior Dinner Dance
Seniors, please check your school email for information regarding the senior dinner dance. The event will be held on June 5. This is a FREE event for seniors. If you have not picked up your tickets please see Mrs. Brown in 355.

This is a very special time for us to come together as family - as friends - as a community - to bless and celebrate these students for their hard work, steadfast love and amazing achievements. A wonderful hour of inspirational speakers and musical performances. Reflect, give thanks and send prayerful blessing to these students as they venture onward....
 
AmeriKids Summer Camp
