Help Needed for the Peak of the Book Sale!! We Need Adults!!

We are VERY short adult volunteers for the 6:30-9:00PM shift next Friday night, February 23rd, and also for the Bag Sale/Tear Down shifts on Saturday, February 24th.  If you haven’t seen how busy Friday night gets, please watch the time lapse video at our website http://uhsbooksale.org on the “Our Event” tab on our website.   We need adults to help manage the peak of the sale – we have less than 10 volunteers for this shift currently.  We are also short adults during the bag sale and tear down on Saturday.  *Please help us!*  If you cannot stay the whole shift, come for an hour – just note it on the sign-up genius.  There are a lot of logistics to manage during the sale, so if you’re coming to help, please sign up so that we can plan for you!  This is the largest fundraiser for the High School and it takes a lot of hands to make it successful.  Please consider joining us!

UHS PTO Used Book Sale - Wanted Volunteers and Books

This year's Annual UHS PTO Used Book Sale will be held on Friday, February 23rd and Saturday, February 24th.  The Used Book Sale is a community event and everyone is welcome. If you do not have a student in the High School, your help would still be appreciated as we prepare for our largest fundraiser of the year.  There are volunteer shifts scheduled throughout the weeks leading up to the day of the sale.  A variety of day and evening volunteer hours are offered to make helping with this event easy and fun for everyone. No prior experience is necessary!  This is a great way to meet new people, connect with friends, or spend time while waiting for your student's practice to end vs driving home and back in the cold. Every little bit of help is vital to the success of the sale.

Currently, we are a little light on book donations – we got off to a fantastic start and then things slowed down a bit.   We have gotten some truly special books again this year – some very unique items.  We also have a wide variety in our sale offering.  We just need more!  Please drop off book donations in any one of the Used Book Sale boxes located in the school lobbies throughout our school district.

2018 Used Book Sale Preparation and Sale Volunteers: Now through  February 23th /24th.  Many student and adult volunteers are needed during the weeks that lead up to the actual event and for set up and sale on February 23rd and 24th. We are in need of volunteers for the Sale Setup and Main Event. Please volunteer for a shift or two or three clicking on the SignUp Genius link:

After Prom Help Needed!! Next Planning Meeting Tuesday, February 13th @7pm in Cafeteria & Donation Info

The most prevalent cause of death among young adults aged 15-22 is automobile accidents, and the most fatal night of the year for young adults is the night of high school prom.  More than 20 years ago, the Unionville High School PTO, with the support of the Unionville-Chadds Ford community, began offering an After-Prom event as a way to keep our students safe on what should be a special night in their lives.  The After-Prom is the UCF Community’s gift to helping ensure our students’ wellness and well-being on prom night.

Each year, parents and community volunteers work tirelessly to provide an exceptional After-Prom experience for our students.  In addition to serving as a safeguard against some of the risks faced by our children, the After-Prom party provides a place for friends to safely come together as they approach the end of the school year.  In a continued effort to deliver this event and keep our children safe, the UHS After-Prom Committee needs the help of the Unionville-Chadds Ford community to continue this gift of safety and fun for the students.

The After-Prom exists solely through community support.  Students are not charged to attend After-Prom and they do not have to go to the prom to attend.  For the After-Prom to be well attended, it must be creative, entertaining, and well planned.

We need YOUR help to make the 2018 After Prom a success!  Here are two ways:

(1)  Volunteer and come to the next planning meeting on Tuesday, February 13th at 7pm in the UHS Cafeteria; and

(2)  Make a tax-deductible donation to help defray the costs of the event.  You should have received a letter in the mail with an envelope to return with your donation. Any donations received before February 13th will not be contacted during our phone-a-thon.

Thank you for supporting this worthwhile gift of fun and safety for our students!

Any questions, please contact After Prom Co-Chair Luci McClure luci.mcclure@gmail.com
